A T-1 Circuit can carry up to 24 voice channels, or 1.544 megabits of data per second ( approximately 60 times faster than a residential modem).  If you are using more than 5 voice lines at your office, and you have any internet or long distance, you may be a T-1 candidate.  If you are using more than 8 voice lines, and have any long distance or internet, your savings can be considerable. 

The available 24 channels of a T-1 can be broken down into any combination of voice or data circuits.  For example, you could have 10 voice channels and 14 data circuits for internet (each data circuit will give you a bandwidth allotment of 64K).  This can be broken down into virtually any combination so long as it does not exceed 24 channels.  If you should have needs beyond 24 channels, you may need to install additional T’s.

When used with a digital phone system that is configured to handle a T-1 directly, you can enjoy the many benefits of a T-1 that at one time were only available to “larger” customers.  You can add DID (direct inward dial) numbers to the service, which will allow you or any employee in your company to have their own number which can bypass the receptionist if you’d like and ring your phone directly.  Once that occurs, we can program the system to handle the call however you would like, (it can go to voicemail, a receptionist, or an assistant for example).  DID numbers are very inexpensive because they are not assigned to a specific circuit.  Each circuit on a T-1 is nothing more than a path, the system recognizes the number from the digital information that comes in when that specific call reaches the T-1 card, not from the circuit called, as was done in the older analog systems.
